The ocular implant preparation is a small, polymer-based disc or cylindrical medicinal preparation that improves the therapeutic release of the drug into the eye (1). Some common types of implants include outer scleral implants, placed on the mid-latitude line of the eye; and intravitreal implants, placed surgically in the vitreous of the eye (2). Figure 1 shows the anatomy of the eye and the placement of various implants. Eye implants are used to treat various diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration (1). The USP4 method was chosen to test the dissolution of this type of product because the method uses a laminar flow method and has a good correlation with the in vivo conditions, and the leaky groove conditions provided by the open loop configuration are conducive to the dissolution of insoluble drugs.
