Therefore, the improvement of VOCs for inks is the key to solving the problem of single item exceeding the standard of VOCs in cigarette packs.

In actual production, there are many factors affecting the content of VOCs in cigarette packs. For the convenience of discussion and research, we have selected a typical traditional solvent-based gravure pack (7-color printing, in which 3 main colors are large-area The color block is overprinted; the substrate is aluminized paper; the ink is a solvent-based gravure ink) as an object of improved analysis. The VOCs test data of the cigarette pack before improvement are shown in Table 1. Requests, but failed to meet the requirements of individual indicators, need further improvement. To this end, we have developed two different options in combination with production.

Option 1: Improved solvent-based ink formulation

The scheme is to reduce the content of each individual VOCs exceeding the standard by the improvement of the ink formulation on the basis of keeping the solvent-based ink system unchanged, so as to reach the limit value level. Since the large solid color block has the greatest influence on the content of the cigarette VOCs, the inks used for the three large solid colors are selected as the improved entry points. The improvement of the ink formulation is mainly to redistribute the solvent structure and proportion in the ink with reference to the limit indicator while keeping the ink performance unchanged. When formulating the improvement, it is necessary to make appropriate adjustments based on the measured results to achieve the best solvent ratio.

After repeated adjustments and production trials of the ink formulation, the most suitable ink formulation is finally determined. The improvement scheme 1 in Table 1 is the production sampling test result. The data shows that the specific over-standard multiple is 4.4, and it is stored after 13-15 days of storage. The measured data shows that each single item meets the requirements and can achieve the intended purpose.
