Diving Tips: Underwater Navigation

Whether you are like many other divers and want to jump off the sea from a dive boat, you don’t need to rely on coaches or guides to help but always know exactly where you are. Do you know how to get to your starting point and not need to jump out of the water in the vast ocean to restore your sense of direction?

Knowing how to find the right path in the water is one of the main ways to differentiate between experienced divers and beginners. Professionals must do this at all times while leading customers or students, even if they are diving in a brand new or unfamiliar location. What are their secrets? How did they do it?

The good news is that as long as the following five steps are followed, it is easy to become a capable underwater navigator.

Step one: more diving

When you start diving, your brain's access to memory will be filled with many things, including controlling your breathing rate, checking your air supply, maintaining neutral buoyancy, and keeping the proper distance close enough to the coral reef to see the wonderful Physical but this distance is far enough to not interfere with marine life.

There are too many things to think about, but to make things even more difficult, in the depths of the ocean, you must also cope with the short-term memory blur caused by narcosis. Once your basic skills are familiar, and proper breathing and buoyancy control has become your instinctive response, you will find that you have more time to find your path. So, the first step is to bring your weight belt and get more diving experience!

Step two: concentrate

There are many things under water that are in progress. The ocean is full of entertainment and interference, and it is easy to let your thoughts drift. However, if you carefully observe your coaches and guides, you will find that no matter how happy they are, they will always focus on finding cool objects, gathering team members, paying attention to the surrounding environment and monitoring their computer meters.

Step 3: Learn

Learn how to use the compass (underwater compass) and purchase one to your diving equipment. Trust the compass. If at any time your compass seems to be inconsistent with your memory, instinct or common sense, trust your compass. It's more accurate than you!

Step 4: Prepare

Before diving, try to imagine the scenery in the water: search for exposed rocks or sandbars: Note the changes in the color of the water as the depth and location change. If your dive site is close to the coastline, remember that the landscape in the water often reflects the outline of the coast.

Also, while you are still on the boat or on the beach, use your compass to plan your heading out and back to the compass and record it. Also remember the location of the sun.

When you are going to wreck diving (usually the hull is made of steel, so your compass will be an unreliable tool at this time), do some research on the shape and characteristics of the wreck in advance.

Step 5: Observe

You do not learn to dive to allow you to spend all of your time staring at the compass in the water. Making good use of your observation power can help you naturally find the right direction. Here are a few natural navigation techniques.

Before you sink and before you set off, examine your depth, look around you, and remember the kind that appeals to you.

When diving, always pay attention to important landmarks and waypoints.

When you pass a good waypoint, turn around and see what it looks like on the way back.

Keep your time in mind to decide when you need to turn back.

For the same reason, we must keep abreast of your air supply.

Pay attention to what kind of water flow and the flow of water.

Study landscapes in water and change with depth.

When you return to the sand area, when you need to find your diving team on the way out, their downward fins movement disturbs the traces of sediment left behind by the environment.

Obviously, natural navigation requires something that you can see, and if you dive in very low visibility, there is nothing more useful than a bundle of ropes. Attach the rope to where you sink, and let the ropes follow you all the way so that you can always find the way back.

With a little perseverance, confidence in self-confidence, self-confidence, you can become a skilled navigator, and you will never get lost again.
