Alphabet Themed Lunches A-C

A while back, I had this brilliant idea to create themed alphabet lunches for my twin girls, but somehow life got in the way, and I kept forgetting to actually do it—until last summer! My girls had just turned four and were about to start school, so I thought it would be fun and educational to help them brush up on their phonics through food. Each day, we’d make a different letter in alphabetical order, and I shared these creations on both Facebook and Instagram. The response was amazing, and people seemed genuinely charmed by the effort. Since I’ve received quite a few requests asking for more details, I decided to compile everything here. Below are some of the letters we crafted along with step-by-step ideas for creating similar lunches at home. --- ### **A is for Apple** This one was simple yet effective. For "A," I used apple slices as the base, adding carrot sticks and raisins for extra flair. It was colorful, healthy, and easy enough for even young kids to help assemble. ![Alphabet Themed Lunch - Letter A](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/b887fde363e2bbef795aaec6af554b1d.jpg) --- ### **B is for Butterfly** For "B," I got creative! Using cheese slices and flapjacks cut into the shape of "B," I decorated it with cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes arranged to form the wings. This design was such a hit that my daughters couldn’t stop smiling when they saw it. ![Alphabet Themed Lunch - Letter B](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/5af4b3e006e717feda7fa57f39ea75b5.jpg) --- ### **B is for Bag** Initially, I tried making unique lunches for each girl, but quickly realized that was far too time-consuming. Instead, I settled on recurring themes that could easily adapt to both meals. One of their favorites became the “bag” design—a pancake base with cheese letters spelling out “B,” a grape button, and a little cake handle to complete the look. ![Alphabet Themed Lunch - Letter B (Bag)](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/f46423c1825ccb4b2fb7522b55037f93.jpg) --- ### **B is for Bat and Ball** Another sports-themed meal, perfect for our athletic eldest. Again using pancake and cheese letters for the “B,” I crafted a tennis racket from cheese strings and a banana handle, while the ball was simply a cherry tomato. She absolutely adored it! ![Alphabet Themed Lunch - Letter B (Bat & Ball)](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/b030b2eaeb86cce9455d49d20a847960.jpg) --- ### **C is for Cat** One of their absolute favorites! Cheese slices formed the body, grapes created the whiskers, and blueberries served as the eyes. Hot dog sausages shaped into triangles became the ears, and I even hid one inside the accompanying sandwich for an added surprise. ![Alphabet Themed Lunch - Letter C](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/ee6f1c00178b6940f3c8590378fe80e4.jpg) After finishing our cat-themed lunch, the girls spent hours pretending their food was alive, chatting away in the garden. It was heartwarming to see them engage so deeply with something I’d made. --- While these lunches took a bit of preparation, they were well worth the effort. Not only did my girls enjoy them, but they also learned without realizing it. If you’re looking for more inspiration, check out my post on number-themed lunches—it’s another delightful way to combine creativity and education. Who knows? Maybe next year, I’ll try moving onto shapes or even entire words. The possibilities are endless!
