Alphabet Themed Lunches A-C
I was supposed to share this a few weeks back but kept forgetting. During the summer break, I got creative with the twins' lunches, turning them into alphabet-themed masterpieces. They had just turned four and were about to start in Reception, so I thought it would be fun to help them review their phonics by making letters out of food. We went through the alphabet in order, and I shared these pictures on Facebook and Instagram.
If you're interested, check out the details of how we made all these alphabet-themed lunches and see the links to some other ideas I’ve tried.
Here’s a look at some of our favorites:
A is for Apple
We shaped apples into letter A’s, adding carrot sticks and raisins for extra flair.

B is for Butterfly
For B, we used cheese slices and flapjacks as the base of the butterfly wings. Cucumbers and cherry tomatoes added color and texture.

B is also for Bag
After starting individual lunches for both girls, I realized it was way too much work. So instead, I made this adorable bag-shaped lunch featuring pancake letters, a grape button, and a cake decoration.

B is also for Bat and Ball
Another B option was a bat and ball theme. Pancake and cheese letters formed the bat, while a cheese-string racket and a banana handle completed the design. The ball was simply a cherry tomato—perfect for my sporty eldest daughter.

C is for Cat
This one was a real hit! Cheese and grape letters made up the body, blueberries became the eyes, and cheese triangles served as the ears. The face was crafted from hotdog sausages, which also ended up in their sandwiches.

The girls absolutely loved these lunches. Their favorite? The cat, naturally. They sat together on the garden steps and pretended their cat lunches were chatting. It was such a sweet moment!
If you enjoyed this idea, you might also want to check out my post on number-themed lunches. Those were equally delightful, especially the adorable number 5.

I hope you give this a try—you’ll find it’s a great way to make mealtime educational and fun!
