Nextlife trays - new uses for recycled plastics

NextLife Recycling Corp., a plastic film and plastic bag recycling company, currently launches its own series of trays made of plastic film scraps such as retail bags and stretched films recycled from stores and retail stores, called NextLife trays. This tray is used to ship recyclables and is itself recyclable.

The largest market for recycled plastics in North America is wood-plastic composites, and NextLife hopes that pallets can be used in the durable goods market. Durables manufacturers are constantly being pressured by the legislature to increase the proportion of recycled materials in their products.

Daniel Schrager, general manager of Nextlife, stated that this year the company will increase the number of products made from recycled film, including plastic boxes, accelerating pumps and cement board replacements.

Nextlife has recycling plants in Tennessee and Michigan. However, they plan to build new factories in Lake Ontario, Nevada, and Texas by the end of 2007. A 90,000-square-foot facility on Lake Ontario is scheduled to begin operations in May this year. If all three plants are produced, Nextife's total annual film recovery will reach 232 billion pounds. Stacey Silver, Nextlife’s market information manager, said that they have already ordered production equipment for plants in Nevada and Texas. Other conditions depend on market demand, but the current situation is in short supply.

NextLife turned its attention to its sister company, Valley Recycling, which Valley Recycling processed into pellets or increased in density (linear low density, low density, and high density polyethylene) and sold to manufacturers. Silver said that compared to plastic materials, the pallets and the processed recycled pellets reduced the manufacturer's cost by 30%.

The pressure from North American legislation is also driving manufacturers to use more recycled materials. For example, California and Wisconsin are considering strengthening the mandatory recycling method. Some big cities ... Los Angeles, West Hollywood, New York, and Madison have already introduced or are considering regulations that specifically address the potential recovery of plastic beer bottles that are being tested for production recently, requiring more recycled plastics to be added to such containers.
