Track and field site cement concrete pouring method
Concrete structures at the track and field venues are typically small in size and spread out across the site. Before pouring concrete, it's essential to prepare the construction area thoroughly. This includes ensuring that access roads are clear, power supply systems are fully functional, electric gates are properly installed, and vibration equipment is ready for use. These preparations help ensure a smooth and efficient pouring process.
When transporting concrete, it should be placed in tightly sealed vehicles, ideally using concrete mixers to maintain consistency. The pouring process should start from the lowest point, such as the bottom of an obstacle pool for a 3000m track, and proceed in layers. The first layer should not exceed 40 cm in thickness. After pouring, the concrete must be compacted using internal vibrators. The distance between vibrators should not be more than 1.5 times their working radius. It's important to avoid hitting the side forms or allowing the rebar to come into contact with them. The vibrators should be kept 50–100 mm away from the formwork and inserted into the lower layer by 50–100 mm. When using the vibrator, it should be lifted slowly to prevent air voids from forming. Each section must be vibrated and compacted until the surface becomes smooth, no further sinking occurs, and bubbles stop appearing. It’s crucial to avoid leaving the vibrator in one spot for too long, as this can cause separation of the mortar and aggregates within the concrete.
Once the concrete is poured, timely maintenance is necessary to prevent cracks caused by temperature changes, wind, and direct sunlight. Proper curing helps ensure the strength and durability of the structure.
During the pouring process, a dedicated staff member should be on-site to monitor the concrete quality and address any issues immediately. This ensures that the work meets the required standards and minimizes the risk of defects or delays.
