The imported products mainly include raw materials for adhesive preparation and related additives (such as PU, PA, epoxy, EVA, SIS and other resins, neoprene) and special adhesives (such as PU adhesive, epoxy adhesive, acrylic adhesive, etc.), Imported regions are mainly the United States, Germany, Japan and Taiwan.

In contrast, the export growth of the industry is higher than that of imports. Statistics show that the export volume in 2004 was 101,000 tons, an increase of 35.03% over 2003, and the amount was USD 171.369 million, an increase of 37.73%. The main products for export are adhesive raw materials (such as PVA, SBS, petroleum resin and rosin) and adhesives (such as acrylate adhesives, silicone sealants, 502 instant adhesives, anaerobic adhesives, hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives, etc.). In addition, pressure sensitive adhesives such as various tapes and labels have also been exported. Export areas are mainly distributed in the United States, the European Union, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Three problems in the industry
Although the adhesive industry has made considerable progress, there are still some problems in the industry development. Experts in the industry have told reporters that the problems are mainly manifested in three aspects. First, raw materials and related additives need to be imported; The second is the slow pace of technological innovation and new product development. The introduction of advanced technology is difficult. Most enterprises still remain in competition in general-purpose and middle- and low-grade products. Third, the market order still needs to further standardize and strengthen supervision and management.

Market development will show three characteristics
Although the adhesive industry still has the above problems, its development prospects are still broad. According to the prediction of adhesive market demand of China Adhesive Industry Association from 2005 to 2010, the industry market demand will increase by an average of 11% per year, including: annual increase of 12% for water-based adhesives; annual growth of hot-melt adhesives by 15%; annual increase of solvent-based adhesives by 5 %; reactive adhesives increase by 11% annually; pressure sensitive adhesives increase by 8% annually.

Experts in the industry told the reporter that the development of China's adhesives market will have the following characteristics: first, foreign-funded enterprises will continue to maintain rapid development; second, there will be more enterprises, more production scales, and higher product grades. Products will have large production scale, high technological level, and strong innovation capability. The advantages of the enterprise are concentrated, and the enterprises with small production scale and technological backwardness will accelerate the elimination. In addition, environmental protection and energy-saving products such as solvent-free, high-solids, water-based, light-curing, low-temperature curing, waste recycling, etc. will also accelerate development. Third, market demand will show a diversified trend. According to preliminary estimates, the annual growth rate of general-purpose products, high-performance, high-quality products and specialty products will be 8%, 12% and 20% respectively.
