Domestic offset printing inks still have many shortcomings compared with similar foreign ink products and cannot fully meet the needs of today's packaging and publishing printing markets.

(1) Offset printing ink manufacturing process. The low degree of automation of the ink production process, the low degree of automation of the ink detection method, the influence of human factors, and the poor stability of the raw materials, resulting in ink products in the quality consistency and stability, there are still gaps.

(2) Color standardization of offset inks. Internationally, there are several European, Japanese, and American Pantone standards for offset printing inks, and our country's offset inks currently do not have their own color standards.

(3) Wide color ink. The use of four color inks in the wide color gamut instead of six or seven color inks for printing can improve the quality of the printed matter while also improving the production efficiency, while the domestic wide color gamut offset ink field needs to be developed.

(4) adapt to high speed printing four-color ink. The domestic four-color overprint ink still needs further improvement in terms of high concentration, high transparency and vividness, and excellent overprintability.

(5) Environmentally friendly offset inks. Currently printing manufacturers, China's printing industry is facing a lot of environmental pressure, because most of the inks used in printing contain organic solvents (compared with solvent-based inks, organic solvents in offset inks are few), the volatilization and emissions of organic solvents It will cause environmental pollution. In addition, inks contain harmful heavy metal elements such as lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, antimony, etc., which are extremely harmful to the human body and the environment. From the viewpoint of environmental protection and health, more and more users are taking low-toxicity, environmental protection, and pollution-free as an important condition when purchasing ink. In China, the development of environment-friendly offset printing inks is still constrained by numerous factors, but for the Chinese ink industry, the ultimate realization and promotion of green inks is the development goal and the ultimate pursuit.

(6) waterless offset ink. Waterless offset printing does not use fountain solution. It can be said that it has made great contributions to environmental protection. It is expected that waterless offset printing in the past two years should have better development space for light-weight paper printing. However, waterless offset printing inks are greatly influenced by the ambient temperature in the actual printing process, and are prone to dirty, but also require special waterless offset printing equipment. In addition, due to the relatively expensive water-based offset printing plates, the application and promotion in China have been limited, and the development has been slow.

The direction of future efforts

(1) Shorten the distance. With the increase of offset ink production, the production process of offset printing ink is gradually developing towards automation. By introducing advanced equipment, the level of control of China's ink production process will be improved; the consistency and stability of ink quality will be improved by increasing the single batch of ink production. .

(2) Establish China's own color standard for offset inks. The first work undertaken by the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee and Tianjin Toyo Ink Co., Ltd. after establishing the "National Ink Standard Printing Test Base" was to establish China's own color standard for offset printing inks.

On October 26, 2007, the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee convened in Beijing to hold the "China Offset Printing Inks Color Standard Drafting Group Establishment Conference", Tianjin Dongyang Ink Co., Ltd., Hanghua Ink Chemical Co., Ltd., Jindong Paper Co., Ltd., Yachang Enterprise Group Corporation, etc. Representatives of relevant companies attended the meeting and representatives from Shenzhen Haichuan Company introduced the relevant contents of the "China Color System" standard. The meeting made preliminary plans for the “China Offset Printing Ink Standards” and related “China Printing Paper Color Standards” and “China Printing Color Standards”, and formally established “China Offset Printing” on the basis of the above-mentioned units. The ink color standard drafting group was drafted by Tianjin Toyo Ink Co., Ltd. as the main drafting unit. From now on, sample collection and experimental verification work on the drafting of related standards was carried out. At present, the printing production, our country's standardization work is in full swing.

In short, as one of the raw materials for offset printing, offset printing inks must maintain its own advantages, and at the same time absorb and learn from the advanced experience of foreign countries.
