Japan successfully developed electrodeposited polyimide resin coating

According to a recent understanding, Japan's Mitsubishi Cable Industries Co., Ltd. and polyimide research company in Yokohama have cooperated in the world's first research and development of successful electrodeposited polyimide resin coatings. The new coating has high heat resistance that is unique to polyimide, and it also has flexibility that polyimide does not have. The product was researched and developed on the basis of block copolymerization technology of polyimide research company. With this technique, an electrodeposition solution of a polyimide dispersed in a polar solvent can be produced. It is said that the polyimide among them has high hardness and high heat resistance, and the addition of aliphatic monomers can improve the flexibility of the product.

Mitsubishi Cable Industries intends to actually use this new coating in various coils, including coils mounted on the floor, auxiliary motors, automotive components, and wire and cable.

The new coating can form a highly insulating uniform polyimide film with a thickness of several μm to 50 μm. It can withstand high temperatures above 220°C and is flexible. The thickness of the film can be controlled very precisely.

Polyimide Research has a patented technology on the copolymerization of polyimide blocks. This copolymerization technology can also be used to produce other products such as adhesives and photosensitive materials.
