Chinese tourists visiting the United States to experience Christmas, New Year and other festivals need to beware of the H1N1 influenza virus that is breaking out in multiple states in the United States. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on December 27 that H1N1 flu has spread to more than ten states across the United States, causing the death of four children and the admission of tens of thousands of adults to hospital. The H1N1 virus began with the swine flu outbreak in 2009. This virus was first discovered in humans in 2009, and every year after the winter flu season will have different degrees of outbreaks. Most of the ten states currently infected are concentrated in the central and eastern regions. Influenza usually breaks out in the United States in winter, with peak periods in January and February. In 2012, a total of 169 children were killed in the United States due to influenza, and more than 380,000 adults were admitted to hospital for treatment.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that infants from six months old to pregnant women and the elderly should receive influenza vaccines.
